ISLAMABAD, Jun 12 (APP):President Dr Arif Alvi felicitates Pakistan’s Special Olympics Team for participating in Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023.
The Special Olympics World Games are the world’s largest inclusive sports event. Thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities compete together in 26 sports during nine days of exciting and inspiring competitions.
From 17 to 25 June 2023, the Special Olympics World Games will take place in Berlin – the first time that Germany will host the Games.
In a statement issued by the President House here, Dr Arif Alvi said participation of the 87-member Pakistani team in 11 different games was a matter of pride for the nation.
He hoped that the whole team would show full strength performance in the Special Olympic. “It is good to learn that the people with mental disabilities are also participating in the games.”
He stressed the need to increase inclusion of people with disabilities in positive activities adding that the differently abled people should also be given the opportunity in health, education, employment and games.
The president maintained that special children should be imparted education in schools with normal children and they should also be given skilled based education to enable them getting more jobs from the market.
